Citizens'
checking has been free since we started the program in 1977.
Our checking accounts feature no minimum balance, no monthly
fees, and unlimited check writing. We have no early cutoff times
for deposits into your account. In addition, you can apply for
a VISA Check/Debit card that gives you
unlimited access to your checking account.
Your checks
We offer
a wide selection of carbonless checks that are attractively
priced. These provide you with a check copy for your records
each time you write a check. Original checks are not returned.
Microfim copies may be requested for a small fee should you
ever need a copy of the original. You can place reorders
of your same check design online. Later this year a complete
catalog of check styles is scheduled to be available online.
Two-way
Overdraft Protection
First,
automatic overdraft protection covers inadvertent overdrafts
to your checking account by taking the money from your savings.
If your savings balance does not cover the amount overdrawn,
the check will be returned for non sufficient funds at the credit
union's discretion. Overdraft fees will apply in either case.
Second,
Courtesy Pay is a service that adds a measure of protection
to your checking account. Courtesy Pay may cover your
insufficient funds checks, up to your approved limit, for one
low fee per covered overdraft transaction. That means,
instead of returning a check to the merchant because of insufficient
funds, we may pay your check, saving you additional charges
from the merchant collection companies. It saves you the
embarrassment an inadvertent overdraft can cause. It helps
protect your credit rating.
